Our Story
I know what you’re thinking, WTF is Corpse Pounder?
Well, long story short, this was the same thing my next door neighbor was thinking the day the Comcast van left my driveway and the new wireless network “CorpsePounder” popped up. As a joke I named my wifi network “CorpsePounder", (the name is another story in itself). After two years of her avoiding me, "the creepy neighbor", my house was robbed while she was in Maui diving. That unfortunate event turned into an exciting conversation about scuba diving when she came over to get the details upon her return, a rare thing in Michigan. Who knew, she was adventurous as I was?!? After that day we went our separate ways since we were both dating other people at the time. Three months later her house was ROBBED! Well, fate had sealed the deal, we have been together ever since.
Our passion for travel and adventure took us to Venice, Italy where I almost capsized the gondola proposing in front of the Rialto Bridge. Shortly thereafter, while planning a wedding, we decided that a big traditional wedding was not for us. Instead, we chose adventure; we would travel to Abu Dhabi, the Maldives, and Bali, Indonesia, getting married just the two of us on the world's most beautiful beach in the Maldives. Let's just say the honeymoon wasn't what we had planned...you want to get to know someone intimately? Try having Salmonella poisoning together in a one bathroom tropical hut, but that’s a story for a different day!
Sitting on the most beautiful beach in the world, we pondered "how can we make this dream we're living an everyday reality?". Upon returning from our wedding we were completely immersed in married life, building a house, career's etc. One night after I returned home from work at 11pm my wife said to me “F*CK THIS SH*T, LET'S BUY A BOAT AND SAIL AROUND THE WORLD”. I said, “You’re F*cking Crazy” and that was that. The more I thought about it, the more it consumed me. Was this possible? We decided that if we were going to do it we had to go all in, no turning back! We sold our house, cars, gave away most other belongings to live smaller, simpler. Once we found the boat in Fort Lauderdale, we had to decide on a name since "Casuarina" was completely inadequate. My wife quickly suggested, “we should name the boat Corpse Pounder”, I said “you’re right, we should!” That was that, we had a Catamaran named “Corpse Pounder”. Before casting off the lines in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in February 2015, we had a surprise...Jennifer was pregnant! Not what we originally had in mind for our cruising lifestyle, but the plan was to not have a plan. We sailed through the Bahamas and the Turks Caicos Islands, to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Jenn, was completely committed to maintaining the cruising lifestyle and chose to have our son Jack, in Puerto Rico. It's been nearly 6 months now and the day has come to cast off for the Caribbean once again!
